Whisker

An animated short from the children's book by Dr. Zeina Ghosn — a wisdom story about curiosity, made for young readers.

Whisker is a ninety-second animated film made for an author, adapting her book about a curious cat named Whisker. Told as a cartoon, it plays on the familiar saying about curiosity and the cat, and turns it around, so that curiosity becomes the thing that teaches rather than the thing that harms.

Adapting a book means the character exists before the film does. Readers already have a picture of who Whisker is, and the animation has to meet it. The work was to give the character movement, timing and personality on screen while staying true to the cat the author created on the page.

It is a clear example of how F5 Refresh approaches animated work for clients: start from the story that already exists, keep the idea simple, and let the character carry it.
