AI ANIMATED FILM PRODUCTION
Powered by AI — Directed by Humans
Animation is the one format where nothing is found and everything is decided. There is no location that happened to have good light, no actor who did something unexpected on take four. Every frame is authored, which is why animation lives or dies on direction long before it depends on tools.
F5 Refresh produces animated films and shorts with generative animation under hand direction. Character design, world-building and narrative are developed as film — story first, then the visual language that serves it, then the frames. AI makes the production possible at a scale a small studio could not otherwise reach. A director decides what the film is, what it looks like, and when it is finished.

How We Operate
Story development and character design
The narrative comes first, built with traditional story craft — structure, character, what changes and why. Visual concepts are developed alongside it with generative tools: character sheets, environment studies, the film's colour and texture logic. This is the first approval gate, and in animation it carries more weight than anywhere else, because a character design you are not certain about will be in every frame of the film.
Animation production
Production runs on current generative models, directed frame by frame for cinematic quality and continuity. The persistent difficulty in AI animation is consistency — holding a character, a world and a light across hundreds of shots. That is handled by direction and locked references, not by hoping the model remembers.
Sound design, scoring and compositing
Sound is where animation becomes film. Score, effects and mix are built for the cut, then final compositing brings the picture to its finished state. The result is delivered festival-ready when that is where the film is headed.

04 // Coverage
Where We Work
The studio is in Beirut and produces animation for clients across Lebanon, the Gulf and internationally. Animation travels better than any other format — there is no location, no cast and no crew, so where a client sits has no bearing on the schedule. Briefs, design approvals and cut reviews all run remotely.

Animated Film — FAQ
What styles of animation can you produce?
The range runs from photoreal and cinematic through stylised and graphic to mixed-media, and style is treated as a direction decision made for each film rather than a house template applied to all of them. What the film should look like comes out of what the film is about. If you arrive with a reference or a visual world already in mind, that is the starting point; if you do not, style development is part of the first stage.
How is AI animation different from traditional 2D or 3D animation?
Traditional animation spends its cost on frames — every second is built by hand, or modelled, rigged and rendered. Generative animation moves that cost into direction and iteration, which makes ambitious visual worlds reachable at budgets and timelines that would not previously have covered them. The trade is control at the individual-frame level, which is why continuity and consistency have to be directed deliberately rather than assumed.
Can you animate an existing character or brand mascot?
Yes. An existing character is locked as a reference and held across the film so it stays recognisably itself from shot to shot — that consistency work is a real part of the production, not an afterthought. Bring the character sheets, brand book or previous assets and the film is built around them.
How long is a typical animated short?
Runtime is set by the story and the brief rather than a standard length. Branded pieces tend to run short — under two minutes — while narrative shorts run longer. Runtime is one of the main things that moves both schedule and cost, so it is agreed at the brief rather than discovered in the edit.
Do you handle sound design and scoring?
Yes, both, as part of production. Score, sound design and mix are built specifically for the cut. In animation this is not a finishing touch — the sound is doing a large share of the work of making a drawn world feel inhabited.
